Glasses for Good is a HenryMakesGlasses community-impact campaign built around a simple commitment: for every 50 pairs sold, we donate one complete pair through our nonprofit partnerships.

Not just a frame. A complete donated pair includes the selected frame, prescription lenses, shipping, and tax. Someone should not reach the end of a “free glasses” process and discover that the parts they actually need still cost money.

Why Glasses for Good exists

Clear vision changes ordinary life. It affects how someone reads, learns, works, uses a screen, completes paperwork, travels, and gets through the day. Yet prescription eyeglasses remain an overlooked everyday necessity for many people served by grassroots nonprofits, shelters, job-training organizations, schools, and mutual-aid groups.

HenryMakesGlasses began by asking why prescription eyewear—especially prescription sunglasses—had become so expensive, intimidating, and easy to delay. Glasses for Good addresses another side of that problem: some people are not postponing a pair because the process is annoying. They may not be able to afford the complete pair they need.

The 1-in-50 Frames Giveaway

The commitment is direct: for every 50 pairs sold, HenryMakesGlasses donates one complete pair.

Customers get the glasses they came to buy. At each 50-pair milestone, a person privately nominated through a participating community organization receives a complete pair too.

The program grows when the store grows. No complicated points system. No public contest over who has the hardest story. Buy yours. Help someone else get theirs.

Community goals, clear vision

The 1-in-50 commitment is the foundation. Participating community organizations can also connect each campaign to verified community milestones that reflect the work they already do.

  • Environmental action and recycling: completing a collection drive, neighborhood cleanup, or sustainability initiative.
  • Community engagement: registering residents for workshops, screenings, education programs, or mutual-aid efforts.
  • Organizational milestones: completing workforce training, youth mentorship hours, volunteer shifts, or another measurable local goal.

The point is not to manufacture superficial attention or chase vanity clicks. It is to connect community participation with a practical resource that can go directly to someone who needs it.

Our nonprofit social entrepreneurship partner: ReJews

ReJews, an established 501(c)(3) environmental and social entrepreneurship nonprofit, serves as the nonprofit lead partner for Glasses for Good.

ReJews helps connect the campaign with nonprofit and community organizations that understand the people they serve. Those organizations are better positioned to identify a community member who would genuinely benefit from a pair of prescription eyeglasses or prescription sunglasses.

HenryMakesGlasses provides the eyewear. ReJews helps coordinate nonprofit participation, verified community milestones, and the private nomination process. It is a practical partnership that keeps decisions close to the communities involved.

Dignity first: the organization nominates the person

Traditional charity giveaways can ask vulnerable people to share private hardship publicly or compete for attention online. Glasses for Good rejects that model.

  1. Private and respectful nomination: A participating organization privately nominates a client, student, volunteer, or community member based on genuine need.
  2. Personal choice and style: The recipient chooses from the eligible HenryMakesGlasses collections. Needing assistance should not mean that comfort, style, and personal choice stop mattering.
  3. A complete pair: The donation includes the frame, prescription lenses, shipping, and tax.
  4. Transparent nonprofit oversight: ReJews helps coordinate partner eligibility, community verification, and respectful nomination procedures.

Recipients need a valid prescription for prescription eyewear. Glasses for Good does not replace an eye exam, diagnose vision, or create missing prescription information.

Privacy before publicity

A recipient or participating organization may eventually want to share a Glasses for Good story. That can happen only with clear permission.

No one should need to surrender personal information, appear in a photograph, or provide a testimonial to receive glasses. A donated pair is not payment for content.

We can report community impact, completed milestones, and the number of donated pairs without turning someone’s circumstances into advertising.

How a community organization can participate

Educators, nonprofit organizers, shelter coordinators, social workers, environmental groups, and community leaders can contact ReJews to discuss participation, define a meaningful verified milestone, and establish a private nomination process.

Glasses for Good is not a proposed name or a someday idea. It is the name of the HenryMakesGlasses community campaign.

For every 50 pairs sold, one complete pair goes to a person nominated through a nonprofit partner.

It is not an elaborate charity contest. It is a glasses company giving away glasses as it grows.
